ARQUES is a town of water and nature, and artistic fame due to the Glass and Crystal factory. It is also home to many leisure and sports facilities. It has the advantage of having preserved its natural resources, such as its lakes, rivers and canals which cross it and the forest which surrounds it.
Every year, almost 60 000 plants perfume and colour the town for everyone’s enjoyment.
For the visitor:
The park with a clear view of the canal and a real show piece of the skills of the town gardeners; the marina, considered to be one of the loveliest in the north of France; the children’s forest, near the marina where more than 2000 trees have been sponsored by the children of the town.

A town hall in the midst of superb flowerbeds was the first stage in the planting strategy of the town of LONGUENESSE, just next to SAINT-OMER. The visitor is greeted by very original mosaic floral displays. All the roads which lead to the town centre are prettily adorned with plants and flowers. Hanging baskets of geraniums and pastel trailing petunias are in flower all over the town and complement the street level arrangements perfectly. Of particular interest is a top quality landscaped cemetery!
