The Lorette and Vimy hills overflow into the lush green landscapes of the Artois plain.
To the west the Mont Saint Eloi towers are a reminder of the power the monks once had over this land. To the south the lion on top of the belfry in Arras seems to keep watch over the valleys of Scarpe, Crinchon, Coheul, Sensée, Hirondelle (near Bapaume) and Kilienne (in Pas-en-Artois).
