THE AREA OF CALAIS,
FROM THE HEADLANDS TO CALAIS …
Over dozens of kilometres,
you can admire a stretch of wild countryside
where walkers will find a diversity of reliefs
and of fauna or flora, between both headlands
the “Caps Blanc-Nez et Gris-Nez”, two conservation
areas, facing the British coast.
Wissant, a seasite resort, links both headlands
with its bay. Guines, a little way out, is a
subtle mixing of woods, valleys and marshlands.
Ardres owns a leisure centre where you can enjoy
different nautical activities on its lakes.
As for Marquise, it’s the land of the marble
with its carries from which up to 26 varieties
of marble of Boulogne are extracted. As regards
Calais, first port of passengers in France,
it has more than one string to its bow: indeed,
the town is also the lace capital of the world!
